Features

In its most basic form, Soliloquy lets you create a slider, into which you put a number of images. Now the images can be directly uploaded, or else you can take the featured images from posts. Another option is to link your Instagram account (addon).

Once you’ve selected the images that will go into your slider, you can set where they link to and a bunch of other settings.

slider upload

When you’re done you can include the slider within a post via shortcode. Alternatively you can also use PHP code to include the slider within your theme.

There are a number of add-ons which make the whole Soliloquy slider experience even better, and give you much more value than when you buy a basic slider and have to do the rest yourself.

Soliloquy integrates seamlessly with WordPress’ own update system to provide automatic updates via Amazon S3. All downloads are signed and encoded by Amazon for your particular update. Update checks are made every 12 hours or can be forced manually by visiting the Updates page.

The latest Soliloquy version also includes loading icons, a very nice touch indeed.

Soliloquy is compatible with WordPress MultiSite, you’ll have no trouble using this plugin regardless of which WordPress setup you have installed.

Soliloquy is tested on all modern browsers, including IE8+, Firefox 3.5+, Safari 4+ and Chrome. Soliloquy does not support IE6 or IE7 explicitly.

Add Ons

Soliloquy addons are only available to those who purchase a developer licence. Considering the added functionality provided through these addons, there is a clear incentive to buy the dev licence. The available addons are the following:

  1. Hi, I am using soliloquy-lite slider (version Version 1.3.0) with WP Version

But i cannot add more then 3 images to the slider using UI(Edit Soliloquy Slider)

Otherwise the slider work but only with 3 images in the slider

  2. Good plugin! I also tried another slider plugin called “Avartan Slider”, which is great. May be it can be the alternative of Soliloquy.

  3. Featured images are available in the Featured Content Addon as Jean has mentioned. Since WordPress limits you to one attachment per post, I’m working on an alternative way to for “attachments” to get around that issue for the next major version of the plugin.

Also – feel free to contact me with support questions and I’d be glad to assist!

  4. The plugin DON’T “take the featured images from posts”: you have to upload a new image from your computer, or take an image from the library that IS NOT attached to any post or page. Maybe the addons allow it, but not the basic package.

Anyway, even following this guides from the plugin itself, nothing shows in my site (wordpress 3.4.2). I really had hopes for this.

  5. I purchased the developer licence with high hopes. I had contacted the developer about filtering it to display the current post’s gallery. He responded that if I purchased he would help. I bought it and then emailed him almost 10 times over the 30 day trial period and never received any assistance so had to get a refund. Good slider, poor support.

    1. Hate you had that experience! I had sent over the code multiple times but didn’t receive any responses other than you had not received it (so maybe there were some email issues), so I granted the refund when you asked (but even then didn’t receive a response).

      1. Hello, yes I never received a single line of code. I had gotten a response from you early on and then I sent many follow-up emails over a three week period without any reply at all. I still love the plugin, its great, but I bought it with that specific piece of functionality in mind and without it I can’t use it.

        1. As a gesture of goodwill, here’s the code I sent over to you. I’ve made it into a gist for your reference. Let me know if you ever want to come back to Soliloquy – would be glad to have you. 🙂

          1. Thanks, I appreciate that. Although you did more work than I need on that gist :). I was looking to use soliloquy to replace

(so the backend is irrelevant, just current photos of current page in the good looking soliloquy). Not sure if this works, but something like this:

          2. Ahh – I see now! That’s coming as a premium Addon since you don’t really use the Soliloquy interface at all, just the backend code for it. It will be called the Soliloquy Dynamic Addon. 🙂

          3. The Addon will be released this week! 🙂 I am writing the documentation now ahead of releasing it.

  6. Coincidentally, I have tested it today as well. It really is the best slider plugin I have seen in a long, long time.
