When writing in a blog, it’s always better to include images and thus make your articles more attention-grabbing. Here are some plugins which make things easier for you.

Attributron 2000

attributron

This plugin adds attribution inputs to the media uploader and “edit media” page. It includes a number of creative common license, public domain, fair use, and standard copyright. It will link back to the author’s page at either the end of a post/page and/or the attachment page. If you have a Flickr API key, it can automatically pull information for Flickr images (copyright, author name, title, description, etc). It adds a few settings to the Media settings page. You can add a Flickr API key, or display Creative Common logos for their respective licenses.

This is my favourite plugin for adding attributions, but you need to import the image first, either manually or through another plugin.

Pixabay Images is a WordPress plugin that let’s you pick CC0 public domain pictures fromPixabay and insert them with just a click anywhere on your blog. The images are safe to use, and paying attribution or linking back to the source is not required.

Features include:

  • Search Pixabay’s public domain pictures via “Add Media” button inside the editor.
  • Filter search results by image type (clipart, photo) and/or orientation (landscape, portrait).
  • Preview images in paginated search results.
  • Direct image uploads to WordPress’ media library.
  • Use of standard media dialogues for editing and inserting images.

A solid plugin for searching and inserting images directly from WordPress.

  1. I have just recently released a new alternative to the plugins mentioned here that also makes finding and inserting creative commons images super easy. WP Inject takes a slightly different approach by using a metabox in the WP editor for search and has some more features I needed personally (e.g. filename templates and integration with WP SEO by Yoast).
